#occupyjustice statement:

Nineteen women clad in black stood on the steps of Castille, the office of Malta’s Prime Minister, holding cards reading “Who Owns Macbridge?” to mark 14 months since the assassination of the journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia.

The action, carried out by #occupyjustice activists, was in clear reference to the mystery client company which is feeding €5,000-a-day into the secret Panama companies of Minister Konrad Mizzi and the Prime Minister’s Chief of Staff Keith Schembri.

“Seven months ago we asked the Prime Minister who owns 17 Black, the other company feeding money into the accounts of his top aides. To his shame he never replied but kept covering up the truth,” said #occupyjustice.

Reuters International and Times of Malta found out that the owner of 17 Black was none other than Yorgen Fenech, director of Electrogas and CEO of Tumas Group, the top man behind the €450-million new power station, which was never really needed. It was built so that Mizzi and Schembri would get €5,000-a-day on top of their government salary.

“We now have it documented black-on-white that the Prime Minister’s closest aides set up a money laundering structure in order to receive illicit kickbacks from the Power Station. And the Prime Minister, instead of distancing himself, keeps hiding behind magisterial inquiries which he did not even open himself,” #occupyjustice said.

“It is obvious that the web of corruption is here in the Prime Minister’s office, and that’s why we came again, with the next obvious question: who owns Macbridge?

We do not have a shred of doubt that the Prime Minister knows, but he has a vested interest in not taking action, which is why he won’t resign and fire his two sidekicks,” #occupyJustice said.

“So we’re telling Joseph Muscat – you may choose to pretend none of this mafia-style corruption is happening, but we won’t rest until we get all the answers.”

“We will keep on fighting to save our country from being hijacked by mafia crooks and we will not rest until justice is served,” #occupyjustice said.

#Occupyjustice said they are determined to fight for what is right, for justice and for a fair and equal society.

“This is our nation, this is our home, and we are the people. We expect better, we deserve better, we demand better.”
