This website is informed that the police have asked a magistrate to conduct an inquiry into allegations that Yorgen Fenech, charged with the murder of Daphne Caruana Galizia, offered or paid Adrian Delia money to help diminish the chances of David Casa’s re-election to the European Parliament. The inquiry is being conducted by Magistrate Doreen Clarke.

A year ago David Thake had alleged on TV that Yorgen Fenech had offered Adrian Delia a payment of €50,000 for this political scheme. The allegation of the offer was repeated by Melvyn Theuma in court last Thursday. He was testifying in the inquiry into the killing of Daphne Caruana Galizia.

But yesterday in court Keith Schembri took the matter one step further when testifying in the compilation of evidence against Yorgen Fenech, suggesting instead that the payment was actually made and that €50,000 changed hands.

Sworn statements by PN leader Adrian Delia and former chairman of the PN’s media arm Pierre Portelli deny ever receiving money from anyone to undermine David Casa’s campaign. The claim was also denied by the Nationalist Party itself.
