Here’s a social media post by our very own Tourism Minister.

The Minister makes an appeal for responsibility because festas leave a horrible mess. It’s not rocket science, is it? It should be obvious that a bin that is big enough for the rubbish generated in a village square any given Sunday is not going to be big enough for the one weekend a year when the village square hosts a festival of street food and drink.

You need bigger bins, temporary ones that rotate between festa locations for one festa week at a time. And then we won’t need martyrs to public hygiene and ministerial appeals for responsibility. We’d be normal. Can’t have that, now, can we?
