Updated to include a video of Jason Azzopardi’s speech in Parliament.

I sometimes get asked by the last remaining advocates for the lost cause of Joseph Muscat, where I was when something or other happened before 2013. Which is a bit of a pointless question really because everyone knows the answer to that.

In case your memory is fuzzy though, here is some help finding out where Robert Abela was in June 2017. He was lifting Chris Cardona and Konrad Mizzi on his shoulder celebrating their re-election to power.

Inspector Kurt Zahra testified in the Daphne Caruana Galizia murder inquiry this morning and confirmed two facts in answer to questions by Jason Azzopardi.

First that the burner phones used in the assassination were purchased late in 2016. And second that late in 2016 Yorgen Fenech was aware the election would be called a year ahead of time.

Jason Azzopardi just delivered a speech in Parliament and threw light on the significance of this.

There are three possible explanations for this.

First, a coincidence.

Second, Joseph Muscat wanted the election to happen before Daphne Caruana Galizia would unscrew the lid on the 17 Black scandal and discover what he had done in Montenegro.

Third, Joseph Muscat wanted the election to happen before Daphne Caruana Galizia was killed.

There is no fourth option where the early election was called because of the April 2017 revelations on Egrant that Daphne published. Egrant was just a a pretext. And Joseph Muscat was lying to cover up either of the more credible possibilities above.

When Joseph Muscat spoke about the biggest lie in Maltese political history in May 2019 he was quite possibly referring to the wrong thing. He may have been projecting his own lie: the biggest, worst and deadliest lie in Maltese political history.

Since that June 2017 picture, Robert Abela has slipped out from under the buttocks of Konrad Mizzi and Chris Cardona. He did that in the last three weeks or so.

But he’s still propping up high his mentor, master and creator Joseph Muscat. And he’ll go down with that ship.
