The following statement refers to the story I published earlier today about the arrests in Italy in connection with a Mafia money-laundering ring that used a Maltese company to launder money. The Maltese company used to be owned by a fiduciary company in which David Gonzi is one of three partners. But as the below statement states already in October 2016 it terminated its fiduciary services to them.

Press Statement issued by Dr David Gonzi

With reference to today’s report in some sections of the media mentioning my name in connection with fiduciary services offered to Phoenix International Holding Ltd, I would like to reiterate the following:

  1. As evidenced by Registry of Companies official documents, from the 30th October 2016, GVM Holdings Limited has terminated fiduciary services relating to Phoenix International Holding Ltd. The shares in the company have since that date been held directly by the shareholder.

  1. GVM Holdings is a licensed fiduciary company providing fiduciary services in terms of the Trusts and Trustees Act. I hold a one third shareholding in GVM Holdings and was appointed as the third director of GVM Holdings on the 2nd December 2014. As from December 2015, GVM has been winding down its activities and has since sent termination letters to all its clients.
