Europe is a dangerous place for journalists. Fifty-one weeks after the killing of Daphne Caruana Galizia, 30-year old TV journalist Viktoria Marinova’s body was found dumped in a park near the Danube in Bulgaria.
Viktoria Marinova’s last work had been to interview two other Bulgarian journalists, Attila Biro and Dimitar Soyanov, who were arrested in September while looking into a case of fraud involving the misuse of EU funds.
Since Daphne Caruana Galizia’s assassination, Slovak journalist Jan Kuciak and his girlfriend were killed. The people who commissioned that murder have been recently detained.
Denmark has recently convicted the murderer of Swedish journalist Kim Wall in 2017.
