The jury in a New York federal court has received instructions from Judge Alison Nathan and is currently considering a verdict in the bank fraud and sanctions busting case against Ali Sadr Hashemi Nejad.
The case has been tried in New York over the last few days. The merits of the case concern allegations that Ali Sadr breached US sanctions against Iran when he used US banks to transfer payments from a Venezuela construction project. The scheme, worth around $115 million, was conducted before Ali Sadr was granted a license by the Malta government to open a bank here in 2014.
