Maria Efimova, who testified at the Egrant inquiry which the Prime Minister says exonerates him of the accusation of bribery and money laundering, reacting today to Joseph Muscat’s statement in court.

Joseph Muscat is reported by Times of Malta to have said this morning “My position is clear and emerges from what other people are saying. There is nothing to these allegations. 477 witnesses were spoken to, several rogatory letters were sent to foreign countries. Several details were incorrect especially were given by (former Pilatus Bank employee) Maria Efimova. None of the documents quoted were found to exist. They are false documents made by someone who is not identified yet and this was confirmed by several foreign experts.”

Maria Efimova provided information that brought about the collapse and closure of Pilatus Bank where she worked for three months and was not paid until the bank was forced into administration.
