Planning Authority staff have been called in at the last minute on a Saturday morning for “urgent work” to find that they were called to process and approve an application by a “Dr Joseph Muscat” for some interior decoration at his Burmarrad home.

“Dr Joseph Muscat” is obviously Malta’s prime minister who has today, on a Saturday, been granted a permit “to remove internal wall and insert steel beams”.

The application was filed on 15th March and wrapped up in the space of 3 weeks. It is as yet unclear why the permit was caused to be issued on a week-end day when the Planning Authority does not normally operate. Except of course for the identity of the customer in this case.
